The procedure of remoulding
The remoulded tyre which goes easy on the environment
The main reasons for purchasing remoulded tyres are the cost, the saving of resources and it is also kind to the environment. This doesn’t necessarily mean that the customer sacrifices quality and safety. In Europe all remoulded tyres have to pass the same tests as new tyres. The performance and safety level is comparable to new tyres.
The same process as with new tyres takes place with remoulded tyres. Treads are applied to the casings and afterwards are vulcanized. Three key factors must be considered. The quality of the casing, the tread mixture as well as the quality and precision of the procedure.
Selecting of casings
A deciding step for the production process is the selection of the casing. This takes place in two phases by qualified specialists. First of all, tyres with visible faults are sorted out plus those which do not fulfil the technical qualitative demands of the European Norm as well as the even more stricter regulations of the producers.
In the second phase the casings are checked and analyzed with highly modern testing equipment. Afterwards they are classified according to their size with a bar code.
Roughing and Construction
The selected casings are then transferred to the roughing station where they are prepared for the application of the new running surface. Remnants on the old surface are removed and then a computer driven robot applies the rubber absolutely even on the new running surface of the casings.
The last phase in the remoulding process is the vulcanisation. Through this process the rubber is heated from the outside as well as the inside and the rubber takes on the form of the designated profile and inscription. At the same time the layers of rubber are joined together just as in the production of new tyres. It is similar to baking.
The rubber mixture transforms from a plastic into an elastic state and the running surface (tread) takes on the final characteristics of the tyres: adhesion, steering precision, mileage performance and comfort on every kind of surface.
The final control takes places in several steps.
This way the user is guaranteed the maximal quality.
The first test takes place immediately after the vulcanisation and the second during the removal of rubber residue. After a further inspection of the inside and outside the balancing ,evenness and rolling characteristics of the tyres are randomly checked in a special machine.
The tyres undergo a testing series on the drum-test stand according to the norms of the European Homologationen and certifications. Extreme driving situations are tested and only quality tyres pass the test.
